Introducing the Middle Way Tapas Bar - We can't say there was a plan in the creation of the Middle Way Tapas Bar, except for the desire to present an innovative and different concept that allows our customers an enriching experience. Finding a ruin near our house, on Rua São Gonçalo de Lagos, the street of the only supermarket in Castro Marim, we renovated this century-old house and transformed it into a bar. And so, the project was created, it took shape. The bar's name alludes to Buddhism; it's a philosophy of life that avoids extremes to achieve peace and personal development. In current times, this notion is essential for dialogue and cooperation between people and institutions. The definition of the tapas followed various influences, namely Thai, Portuguese, vegetarian, and the present times. We wanted to offer products with a strong culinary personality, although with wide acceptance. A bar is not a fine dining restaurant, but our customers need to be surprised and satisfied with the proposed culinary experience. The selection of drinks followed. Today in Portugal, there is a large production of craft beers, and Middle Way provides a catalog of high-quality local production. With the brewer from Castro Marim, Gabriel Silveira, of Senescal, we produce a white beer with lemongrass, called Middle Way. We also have amphora wines from Castro Marim, organic wines from Lagos, wines from the Algarve, vegan wines without pesticides from Cabo da Roca, Alentejo and Douro, all selected by the owners. And non-alcoholic drinks… The bar's decoration was an open question until a painter appeared who proposed to exhibit his works. An exhibition activity was then born, benefiting the artists. This activity gradually expanded, to the delight of the public and the artists. A space for dialogue was created. We regularly have vernissages, where lives, tastes and teachings intersect. Middle Way offers a small air-conditioned room, a shaded terrace with misting systems in the summer, and an elevated terrace overlooking the castles of Castro Marim. The rooftop offers a pleasant place for appetizers and conversations, where themes of rebuilding the world easily evaporate amidst the ambient jazz music and shared laughter.
