Sue Duncan
TEXTILE ARTIST
"By developing my own printed and dyed fabrics, I create textile art that blends traditional techniques with contemporary interpretation, often incorporating vintage textiles and intricate embroidery"
PROFILE

Although I wanted a creative career, family ‘encouraged’ a more traditional path, leading to a successful career in HR management and consultancy. While raising our children, I launched The Spice Casket, creating dried flower and spice arrangements, exhibiting at major craft shows, later returning to a corporate role.
City & Guilds qualifications in Patchwork and Quilting, and later Embroidery provided me with the technical skills and creative design I sought. Then during Covid I took an online printing and dyeing course.
My work blends traditional textile techniques in a contemporary multi-media style. As a member of UK based Curious Threads textile group I miss the in-person meetings now I reside in Portugal.
Joining the Collective will provide that energy and collaboration.
Above all, I hope my work reflects my passion. I aim to create thoughtful, distinctive pieces that continue to evolve with fresh ideas.
