WATER COLOUR ARTIST
New Zealand
I am a “Creative Adventurer” All things and forms of art interest me.
PROFILE
I learnt the practise of watercolour in the United Kingdom where I lived for over 20 years. I was immersed in the beauty of the English countryside and enjoyed the wonderful tutorship of some very talented watercolour artists. It was a time of exploration of the Masters, European Artists and galleries. When I returned to NewZealand I attended an Art School here and now belong to the NewZealand watercolour society and a group of 5 various talented artists. We in turn belong to a larger group of Mahurangi artists. Happily my paintings are now in houses in the UK, Europe, Africa, Japan and NewZealand. My inspiration comes from where I live, a beautiful place on the northern coast of NewZealand. Because the light is so intense here, I use a lot of colour in my paintings. My preferred medium is watercolour, at times I also use acrylic, oil and collage. My “Happy Place” is sketching. I also teach this subject. I have published 3 small books of local sketches. “Painting is just another way of keeping a diary”, Pablo Picasso
